The art of the aperitivo

Our mission as Aperitivo Stockholm is to bring a good community of people together to relax after a hectic day at work - all while enjoying delicious food and sipping on one of our many aperitivos. And who doesn’t want to let go of their sorrows for a night - I know we do!

But - what does it really mean? An Aperitivo is often compared to the American happy hour, but in reality, it’s so much more than that. More specifically, it’s the famous Italian art of hanging out and mingling after work, making new connections with interesting people and enjoying la Bella Vita at its very best. We as experienced Italians want to bring brightness and excitement into your life, no matter the day and season.

..“La bella vita”, at least it is when aperitivo-hour has arrived and delicious food, friends and good music come together. (quote, indentation)

Sounds too good to be true and clueless on how to do it? Well, that must be your lucky day today, as we’re about to explain in three easy steps:

What to drink exactly?

The classic aperitivo is well-known for its dry and to some people bitter taste. Most favorite’s include the Spritz made with Aperol or Campari and Prosecco, an Americano made with Campari, sweet Vermouth and Soda, or a Negroni, a Florentine specialty, made with Gin, sweet Vermouth and Campari. The choice is all yours and if you can’t make up your mind, just try them all!

What to eat with it?

Traditionally aperitivo cocktail options tend to be light on alcohol and bitter in taste, meaning they pair perfectly with salty snacks such as olives, chips, and peanuts.

The idea is to nibble, but many people have begun to use the aperitivo in lieu of a dinner, having places offer a wide variety of crostini, salads, cold cuts, cheeses, breads, soups and pasta with this famous deal: one drink + “free” food buffet. Although savory, it’s definitely the sweetest way to end your day and start the night.

When and where does it usually take place?

A general rule-of-thumb for having an aperitivo is between 7 to 9 pm. But what’s the fun in sticking to the norm? We want to switch it up the game and provide our aperitivo two hours earlier, so no excuses not to make it!

To have the best experience possible, it’s best to spend your after-work hours in a relaxed atmosphere - we especially love bars with great views and good music that allows chatting and mingling underneath the Nordic moonlight.

As you can see, having an aperitivo is not just having a drink with delicious food, it’s a kind of art in its entire being with the right amount of Italian flair. Let us take you on an exciting experience in joining one of our next events.
